"Moment of Silence for Tamir Rice,"
Said a woman standing in a circle crowded to mourn another murder, for the eleventh time tonight since the last moon.
“Silence,”
She spoke
Holding a bullhorn,
A black fist, and a bleeding heart
Her eyes
Soaked with all seven oceans,
Set on the land at fault for stolen lives…
I swallowed my tongue.
My fingers have lost count
of charges against this country
Indebted to her in centuries of silence,
For all the 397 years of black bodies pushed in the grave too soon.
